Increase staffing to give NHS & care workers 10 days extra leave after COVID-19

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

Workers in NHS & care services have been under huge & prolonged strain during the pandemic. Once medical options for preventing & treating COVID-19 reduce the demand, let’s increase staffing to allow 10 extra funded days of leave for these workers as a thank you. TOIL (time off in lieu) for toilers!
Rather than gestures and medals, this will directly benefit the wellbeing of public service workers who have been strained beyond all reasonable limits by this emergency. It will show that we truly do care & cherish their contribution. The boost in staffing would be finite, can be forward planned, and would in itself speed up service delivery in other areas impacted by lockdown strictures, so in turn benefitting wider society, and boost holiday and travel businesses as a byproduct.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The NHS are responsible for decisions about annual leave for NHS staff, not the UK Government or Parliament. Similarly, individual local authorities or care providers are responsible for decisions about annual leave for their staff.
