What the petition asks
This petition aims to prompt the government into introducing a law that ensures the breeding of dogs is deemed illegal without the appropriate licence.
This petition also aims to ensure licences currently enforced are enhanced further to ensure only reputable breeders are active.

As a prospective dog owner, I have seen time and time again that too many breeders are not competent enough to breed dogs. This could be lack of knowledge or poor reasoning behind breeding.
To combat this, all prospective breeders should need to obtain the relevant licence to breed dogs under any circumstance which can be achieved after satisfying a host of relevant criteria.
The current criteria to obtain a licence in not nearly stringent enough and is easily exploitable.
