What the petition asks
All MPs to take a pay cut to 66% of their salary
All UK MPs to take a pay cut to 66% of their salary in line with the majority of the country.
All UK MPs to take a pay cut to 66% of their salary in line with the majority of the country.
MP's may talk about being 'in it together' but they sit in a secure and subsidised environment. This pay cut and the money raised can contribute towards the Corona Pandemic by helping those affected.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
