Change the Law For the Child Maintenance calculation for company directors

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

Use the annual company profit to calculate child maintenance where the absent parent is a company director irrespective of how they pay the profit to themselves.
Many absent parents are paying themselves nominal amounts as company directors through the PAYE system when they employ themselves thus avoiding child maintenance payments. They then pay themselves dividends from the company profits which are not currently used for maintenance calculations.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure whether you want all company directors, including those whose income is not directly based on company profits, to be covered by this, and if so how this would work.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
