What the petition asks
Allow fathers to attend all scans and appointments with their pregnant partners and to be present the whole way through labour.
During covid 19 fathers havent been allowed to support their pregnant partners through pregnancy. People are allowed to a bar to eat in a room with over 10 people in, people are allowed to go to the gym with over 10 people in, but fathers arent allowed to support their partners through pregnancy
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions about visitors are a matter for the NHS, not the Government or House of Commons.
On 5 June, the NHS’s suspension of hospital visiting was lifted. This means that visiting is now subject to local discretion by trusts and other NHS bodies. You should check with your maternity team and sonography unit for their policy on visitors attending antenatal appointments, including scans.
