Give children the meals that they deserve.

Rejected 15 signatures

What the petition asks

Change their decision on giving children the free meals that they deserve. It is a basic human right that is stated in the United Nations Convention of the Right of a Child act. Every child should be given the things they deserve to have a good start to life.
They need to look at how their actions will properly affect children, families and other services. They need to re-evaluate their decision on stopping children getting free meals. Especially at christmas and in this time of need.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

Free school meals are usually only offered to eligible pupils during term time. The Government has launched a £170m Covid Winter Grant Scheme to support children, families and the most vulnerable to March 2021, with at least 80% of this funding earmarked to support with food and bills. The Holiday Activities and Food programme will also cover the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays in 2021.
