Open Healthy Baby Clinics using a booking system for face-to-face appointments

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Healthy Baby Clinics have been closed since lockdown. Consequently, families have been unable to access face-to-face support or advice.

The closure of Healthy Baby Clinics has been particularly difficult for new parents who were, and in some cases still are, isolated from friends and family.
Clinics are still not open despite a large proportion of businesses, and educational institutions re-opening. Telephone appointments do not provide adequate support nor can thorough assessments and reviews be carried out. In some cases key development reviews are being missed which could contribute to long-term health implications for children.

Bookable, COVID secure appointments should be made available to ensure families are sufficiently supported and assessments are accurate.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or House of Commons is directly responsible for.

Child health clinics are run by health visitors and GPs, and it is up to individual clinics, not the Government or House of Commons, to decide how to operate during the Covid-19 outbreak.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to fund additional support for child health services, including with a view to supporting the resumption of face-to-face services.
