Abolish the Immigration Health Surcharge

What the petition asks
I want the government to abolish the immigration Heath surcharge payments for all migrants.
The surcharge has recently increased from £400 to £624 per year. An application for 30 months visa will cost £1872 plus another £1033 home office application fees.
I am a solicitor and a large majority of my clients are migrants on very low wages . An application for leave to remain for a family of 4 can ultimately cost over £10,000 minus solicitors legal fees. This is causing a lot of hardship for the migrants and their household. A lot of families are close to becoming destitute as a result. I am calling for the government to rethink this policy as it is grossly unfair. A lot of migrants are employed and pay taxes and national insurance contributions.
