Stop taking american bullies from dog owners
Rejected

What the petition asks
to change the law about pit bull type dogs based on looks, especially if a person has paperwork stating the dog is a american bully
too many American bully owners are having their dogs taken by the police for no reason and when the dogs are returned, they are coming back in a terrible state, that would be illegal if a normal person treated a dog in that way
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The exercise of powers under the Dangerous Dogs Act is an operational matter for individual police forces, not the Government or House of Commons.
If police have incorrectly seized your dog, you should complain directly to the relevant police force. You can find out how to complain about the police here: https://www.policeconduct.gov.uk/complaints-reviews-and-appeals/make-complaint
We could accept a petition calling for police powers under the Dangerous Dogs Act to be restricted, so that owners must be given opportunities to prove the dog is not of a prohibited breed, before the dog can be seized, if that is something you want to happen.
