What the petition asks
Recognising the importance of primary school childrens' education, social development and mental wellbeing; this petition calls for the UK Government to commit to maintain full-time education provision in England throughout the COVID-19 pandemic reflective of negligible risk to pupils' safety.
As a parent to a 5 year old boy, the closure of primary schools and the pressures of home schooling and working from home coupled with a prolonged period of having no social interaction with peers his age had a detrimental impact on my child's wellbeing, and the government should resist political and trade union pressure to repeat this action.
Children should be the priority and be in school.
Parents who have any concerns should also have the right to remove their children without penalty.
