Petition · past parliament
MPs should be paid 80% of their salaries in the second lockdown.

What the petition asks
MPs are asking furloughed employees to take a 20% pay cut for the duration of the second lockdown. We think they should do the same.
MP’s should stand in solidarity with the people they serve. If the whole country is expected to live on less money, so should the people enforcing the rule.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
