Put Brexit “on hold” till Covid is more under control

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Agree some words with our European partners to pause the Brexit negotiations.
It doesn’t make sense to be putting so many resources into a Brexit deal in the face of the COVID crisis, the government needs to reallocate those resources properly

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020. The transition period agreed between the UK and EU will end 31 December 2020. The UK Government cannot "pause" this itself, and any extension to the transition period would need to be agreed between the UK and EU.
