Allow pubs and bars to sell takeaway alcohol during lockdown
Rejected

What the petition asks
Allow all pubs and bars with an off license to sell alcohol as takeaway during lockdown.
Supermarkets can sell alcohol as takeaway, as can pubs and restaurants through delivery partners. Why are pubs and bars singled out in the prohibition of the sale of alcohol in person for the purpose of takeaway? Too many jobs and businesses will inevitably be lost as a result.
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
The new regulations that have been put in place for the current lockdown allow licensed premises to sell alcohol provided this is pre-ordered by the customer: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/1200/pdfs/uksi_20201200_en.pdf
