Extend the deadline for filing 2019/20 self-assessment tax returns

Many firms of accountants are currently inundated with assisting small business owners with the various government support programmes and will struggle to deal with this if they also have to ensure that tax returns are filed on time, by 31 January 2021, especially given the further lockdown conditions imposed. Although payment deadlines have been extended, filing deadlines have not. Companies were granted filing extensions for their accounts, and individuals should be given the same flexibility.
