Free School Meals during Christmas 2020

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

During half term food banks, businesses and councils filled the gap after the Government refused to extend free school meals for children during the half-term.

Statists show nearly 10million people are on furlough and now we’re heading into another lockdown this number could rise.
Already over 70% of children living below the poverty line are from working families, and that figure has risen during the pandemic.

We call on the Government to expand free school meals to all under-16s where a parent or guardian is in receipt of Universal Credit or equivalent benefit and provide meals during the Christmas holiday to ensure no child goes hungry.
