Re-evaluate our education system

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

Taking a singular exam to determine ones outcome of life seems unfair and a poor determiner of proper knowledge. Having teacher input, as seen from the recent COVID-19 exams, aswell as coursework, mock exams and oral/written class work should all be examined to fully produce a final grade.
Though this may take more time and greater effort, it will benefit students by giving them a more accurate grade and also allow those students with mental health issues who may struggle with exams, a fairer chance at getting a true representation of their abilities. Having one exam determine it all seems unfair and lazy.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned with the current education system, but it's not clear how you want the Government to change this.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to reduce the extent to which standardised testing is used to grade students, if that is what you want to happen.
