Introduce legislation for silent fireworks only.

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

Introduce legislation to only allow the sale of silent fireworks and only permit silent fireworks in displays.

They can be traumatic for children with hyper sensitive hearing and pets are particularly prone to noise phobia.
We propose introducing a law likened to what they have in Collecchio, Italy which endeavours to reduce the stress on pets and local wildlife, and it also means that pet owners can join in the celebrations rather than staying home to comfort scared pets.

The fireworks displays can still be impressive visual displays that all can enjoy.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

You may wish to sign this petition calling for a similar action: Review and reduce the decibel limit on fireworks sold to the public

While some fireworks are marketed as silent, these still make some noise. If you would like the Government to reduce the decibel limit to a specific level, you could start a new petition requesting this.

We have also published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:

Limit the Sale and Use of Fireworks to Organisers of Licensed Displays Only: Limit the Sale and Use of Fireworks to Organisers of Licensed Displays Only

Ban the use of all fireworks in order to reduce air and noise pollution: Ban the use of all fireworks in order to reduce air and noise pollution.
