No fee for giving notice of marriage again when wedding cancelled due to COVID

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Make fee exempt for couples who have had to give notice of marriage again due to their wedding being cancelled due to COVID
Thousands of weddings were cancelled when we went into lockdown and the notice of marriage only lasts for a year so depending on when you gave it and when you have booked your new wedding date many couples are having to give notice of marriage again and having to pay a fee.
Most couples who have had to rearrange their wedding will have already incurred extra costs without then having to pay to give notice of marriage when due to no fault of their own their wedding couldn’t go ahead

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Decisions on refunds or transfers of notice fees are a matter for individual registry offices and local authorities.
