What the petition asks
We want the Department of Education to include British Sign Language into the primary and secondary school curriculums. If they argue that there’s no space, we would suggest to remove Modern Foreign Languages. Learning a language is a choice. A want.
Being deaf is not.
Being deaf is not.
1/6 of the entire UK population is deaf, and yet the problems our fellow people face is ignored. If equality is such a huge deal, it’s something we’re so proud of and trying to achieve, why is equality for deaf people not fought for? Not acknowledged?
Deaf people suffer- in being misunderstood and it all boils down to one thing: the lack of ability we have to communicate.
And yet, this is something we can change!
Introducing BSL into our curriculums will bring change and development in the UK!
