Freeze politicians pay this year
Rejected

What the petition asks
Lead by example and ensure that they are not given pay increases. Insist that the body that decides on their pay increases know that they will reject any increments for the unity and benefit of the country.
Given the current financial crisis and that other public sector workers are likely to incur a pay freeze, politicians should lead the way and ensure the same applies to them. People will be looking to parliamentarians to practice what they preach
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government and MPs' pay is automatically adjusted in line with IPSA's recommendations.
