What the petition asks

“MP’s to Set a Good Example to Us All By Taking A Pay Cut and Pay Freeze.”.

Claiming £50,000 in takeaway meals is part of a VERY LONG list of items that should NEVER BE ALLOWED to be claimed for.

Disgusting use of OUR money.
Pay the public sector the money THEY DESERVE.

Give mps and pay cut and pay freeze for the next 10 years or until the economy gets back to what it was.

Employ an “Independent, Logically Team of people who are ” TOTALLY DEVOID of ANY mp’s” to assess the long list of what mp’s can claim expenses for.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.

You can find out more about IPSA here: https://www.theipsa.org.uk/about-us/
