Require car manufacturers to implement security measures that stop vehicle theft

What the petition asks
Change the law to require that vehicle manufacturers have to implement enhanced security measures that prevent vehicle theft. Allow a vehicle to be remotely disabled by its owner or the police using simple apps or systems. Ensure the law requires all vehicles to have a pin code to start.
We are faced with an epidemic of violent aggravated vehicle crime, residents attacked in their own homes for car keys and even when out shopping or going about their day to day business. There is no reason why technology cannot be implemented to stop this. Car manufacturers benefit from another sale if a vehicle is stolen. The police have to conduct dangerous pursuits at huge risk when we all know systems could be implemented that allow vehicles to be automatically switched off. We need action!.
