Equal syllabus for GCSE students

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Make students learn the same content and sit same papers and not divide them into categories such as higher and foundation
From my own experience, many students have high expectations in life and want to be engaged in careers which requires a high standard of education. This therefore is only achieved by having higher gcse qualifications. My concern consists of students who are put in foundation set based on their sats scores or other criteria thats schools look at. In my opinions everyone should sit same papers and have same opportunities in front of them

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The Government is responsible for setting the subject content for GCSEs, but decisions about the exact content of courses and exams, and which students take which assessments, is a matter for individual schools, exam boards and students, not the Government or House of Commons.
