MPs accept the same terms of any pay freeze they impose on public sector workers

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Decisions to freeze pay on public sector workers should be mirrored by government and any MPs and should include staff from their own offices'.
A pay freeze decision that does not affect the decision maker is an easy decision to make.
Currently, any pay freeze imposed on public sector does not affect MPs

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.

You can find out more about IPSA here: https://www.theipsa.org.uk/about-us/
