What the petition asks

Give Dental nurses a set hourly rate which is fair for our qualified jobs that we have studied for. And not leave it to our employee to pay us minimum wage for a job we have had to study for and have a qualification for.

We are working in people's mouths / covid highest risk job.
We have to get a qualification to become a dental nurse to earn minimum wage! (Not living wage)
People working in retail are earning more
Dentist couldn't do their job without a nurse so pay us fairly and appropriate for what we do full time

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Dental nurses are usually employed directly by dental practice owners, so decisions about dental nurses' terms and conditions of employment, including pay, are a matter for practice owners, and not the Government or House of Commons.

You could start a petition calling for the Government to increase the pay band for dental nurses employed directly by the NHS, if this something you would like to happen.
