Enable legal recognition of people helping someone with financial transactions

Closed 955 signatures

What the petition asks

Patients who have suffered illnesses where they are left with limited/no speech or ability to write should be able to designate family/friends to call or act on their behalf without having to resort to a power of attorney. This would support people with dyspraxia when dealing with their accounts.
Government should create a standard document outlining this and there should be an obligation on companies to acknowledge and accept this or alternative medical documents or confirmation from medical professionals. Power of Attorney isn’t appropriate in these circumstances, as it is for people with reduced mental capacity but not people who just need physical support dealing with their accounts.
