What the petition asks
It is wrong that nurses should have to pay an annual fee (currently £120) just to be registered to do their job. Please abolish this fee. I
I have a family member who is a valued A & E nurse. It is ridiculous in this current COVID climate where the demand on the NHS has never been so great that front line staff have to pay a fee to be able to do their job.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise.
Whether to charge registration fees is an operational matter for independent bodies including the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and not the Government or Parliament.
We have published a petition calling on the Government to reimburse NHS nurses for professional registration fees, which you might like to sign:
Reimburse all NHS nurses for their annual registration fees
