What the petition asks
In Tier 3/4 areas and higher, at the moment employers can force employees to work in offices even in cases where employees can work from home, this can cause transmission of the virus to a large amount of people.
We need to control the spread of the virus, many employees are being forced to work in offices despite the governments advice to work from home, this is causing the spread of the virus among office employees. This should only apply to non-essential roles such as office workers where the employees can easily work from home.
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
Since you started your petition the Government has announced a national lockdown and you may only leave your home for work if you cannot reasonably work from home. You can read the current rules about going to work during the lockdown here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home#going-to-work
