What the petition asks

To get the Student Housing Company to reduce the rent that students have to pay this year due to the pandemic.

Due to new lockdown laws, students are unable to return to their accommodation until mid February, but expected to pay full rent. This is unfair. When students have contacted TSHC about this, many have been threatened with legal action.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Suspending payments for rent or ending a tenancy early is a matter for individual landlords, and not the UK Government or Parliament.
