Make Furlough Mandatory for Education Supply Staff
Rejected

What the petition asks
The Government should make Furlough Mandatory for Education Supply Staff instead of a flexible one to support supply staff and help retain as many experienced teachers in the profession as possible and provide more support for the employees.
In both Scotland and Northern Ireland, 100% of supply staff were given ‘furlough like’ compensation, it is only fair that England and Wales get the same equal treatment. Supply teachers are left unexpectedly without any financial support after the recent new Lockdown Measures, which will continue for as long as schools are closed. Agencies are refusing to furlough their staff because it is not mandatory. As a result, supply staff continue to suffer from severe financial hardship.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. In particular, whether you would like the Government to change the furlough scheme to make employers use it for any eligible staff, or if you would like a separate grant for education supply staff.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
