What the petition asks

Call on the government to consider holding debates in Parliament between MPs & 14.1 million UK disabled people to discuss issues affecting them. It will allow those with disabilities to raise their concerns about benefits, housing costs & their treatment by DWP on Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

The UK government/politicians must hold live parliament debates between MPs & disabled people (particularly the severely disabled). This is crucial to give them the opportunity to raise issues of concern. Many are facing PIP reductions which affect their benefits, fees, housing costs & impacts on their lives. Some disabled people work part-time or have been made redundant due to COVID-19. They face an uncertain future. It is time for politicians to listen to the experiences of real people.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We understand that you are concerned about polices and benefits relating to disabled people, but parliamentary debates can only be attended by MPs, not Members of the public.

If you want the Government to review policy and benefits relating to disabled people, we could accept a petition requesting this, with a view to identifying how policies and benefit could be improved.
