Give Psychiatric Assistance Dogs the same rights as other Assistance Dogs

What the petition asks

The Government should alter the law to allow Psychiatric Assistance Dogs to have the same rights as other assistance dogs. Specifically, they should alter the Equality Act 2010 to accommodate the use of PADs in places of work and education, on all modes of transport, and in rented accommodation.

Psychiatric Assistance Dogs can be trained to the same high level as other assistance dogs. They are trained to do tasks including but not limited to calming owners during panic attacks, reminding their owner to take medication, raising the alarm during a suicide attempt and more. The recognition of PADs would enhance the lives of so many people suffering with mental health by helping calm anxiety in public, helping people through depressive episodes and stop the cycles of associated with OCD.
