Allow college students to retake GCSE Maths in University if failed in November

Rejected 14 signatures

What the petition asks

Usually, if college students fail their Novemeber GCSE Maths exam, they would have another opportunity to retake it in the summer. With circumstances of exams being cancelled, students should be allowed to retake maths in University so they do not have to stay at college another year to retake maths
The reason for this, is because the summer exams would be cancelled due to Covid-19. This gives anyone who may have failed another chance to proceed into university without having to stay back at college another year. This should also apply to GCSE English. This is could really affect someones educational future and actually sticking to college which may have been affected by their lack of opportunity due to Covid-19.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions about requirements for University courses are for individual Universities, not the UK Government or Parliament. You could start a new petition calling for the Government to ensure GCSE retakes are available to students applying for university next academic year, if that's something that you'd like to see.
