To cancel all IGCSE exams for Year 11's

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

To cancel all GCSE exams and not just the UK based ones. Use Centre Assessed Grades for IGCSE in the same way that Centre Assessed grades will be used for normal GCSE's
It is incredibly unfair that many people are being made to sit IGCSE exams while others all over the country are not being made to do so. All of my exams apart from one or two are IGCSE. How is it fair that I, and many others should sit these, when others in my year across the country will not have too. Yet I have been out of school for the same period of time during lockdown.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Decisions about courses and assessments that are delivered by independent educational institutions, as opposed to state schools, are a matter for individual exam boards and educational institutions, not the Government or House of Commons.

We could accept a petition calling for the Government to prohibit any exams from taking place during the Covid-19 outbreak, if that is something you want to happen.

We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: https://www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
