On-line vendors to show the country of manufacture for items sold in the UK.

What the petition asks
We urge the government to consider legislation that will make it compulsory for all web based selling sites to clearly show the country of origin/manufacture for any item that is sold on-line in the UK.
Buying an item through web based vendors rarely shows where it is made and where it is dispatched from. Country of origin is only discovered once the item has been paid for and delivered denying the consumer an informed choice.
Whether consumers want to be patriotic and buy British, buy cheaply from China or opt for quality from whichever country they believe fulfills their requirements, they cannot do so within the current framework. Market forces will not rectify this, legislation will.
