Allow learner drivers to continue to practice driving in England

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Change the recent ruling that disallows learner drivers to practice driving with members of their household.
Due to the multiple national lockdowns and most areas being classed highly in the tier system, driving lessons and indeed tests have been cancelled, creating a massive backlog in the testing system. I and many other people in my situation, would like to be allowed to practice driving in preparation for practical driving tests that may either be on their original dates, or on their rescheduled dates, as many have waited nearly a year for these tests. In turn this would help reduce the backlog.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

You may wish to sign this petition calling for the same action: Allow learner drivers to go out and drive with people from their household.

Under current Government guidance, you can practise driving with members of your household or support bubble. It must be travel for work, education or other essential journeys: https://www.gov.uk/driving-lessons-learning-to-drive/practising-with-family-or-friends
