Çhange the laws for carrying a knife in the uk for adults and under 18s.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

In the year ending June 2019, there were 22,306 disposals given for possession of a knife or offensive weapon. Juveniles (aged 10-17) were the offenders in 20% of cases. London recorded the highest rate of 179 offences involving a knife per 100,000 population. There is no deterrent!
Current laws are offenders aged 18 or over would be sentenced to a minimum six months' custodial sentence and a maximum 4 years .
For those aged 16 or 17 the minimum sentence is a detention and training order of at least four months.
This is not enough. Knife crime in the UK is rising rapidly. We have to protect our children. Change the legislation and make it a detterant. 8 years minimum for carrying a knife in public. This needs sorting out! We want change, now. Protect our children.
