What the petition asks
Rewrite the rules and regulations on the sale of small animals and their care.
There are a lot of grey areas in the law that allow small animals to be neglected and abused day to day.
Enclosure size , toys , food , pet shop guide books , selling harmful products , buying animals for others etc.

Abusing any animal is a horrible thing and the fact it is looked over by the law itself is devastating .
Please look into the animal welfare act , add to it , make new laws , rules and regulations that help prevent neglect and abuse . Small animals are well over looked in the act.
The fact ‘Pets at Home’ follow their care regulations In-store and the products they sell speaks volumes.
Once the RSPCA partner with them , they removed their enclosure guide lines.
Please make changes.

Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about the wellbeing of small animals, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. The Animal Welfare Act 2006 makes owners and keepers responsible for ensuring that the welfare needs of their animals are met. Anyone who is cruel to an animal, or does not provide for its welfare needs, may be banned from owning animals, fined up to £20,000 and/or sent to prison.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
