Prohibit gambling unless individuals are registered members of a gambling shop

What the petition asks
Pass a law which states that all UK betting shops make it mandatory that their customers must be a member with them, in order to place their bet(s), to ensure that people trying to quit gambling can't gamble anonymously.
There are around 280,000 problem gamblers in England alone, according to a 2018 study by NHS Digital, although a YouGov survey earlier this year found there could be 1.4 million across the UK.
The current self-exclusion scheme within the bookies is inadequate, and requiring individuals to be members of a gambling shop in order to place a bet would make it easier for people to decide to self-exclude or end their membership if they wish to quit gambling.
