What the petition asks
I would like the Government to issue to the vaccine to all ages that are classed as ‘extremely clinically vulnerable’ when it is their turn as a priority group, this should include all children that have been advised to shield by the government.
When being classed as ‘extremely clinically vulnerable’ it is, as per the government website “People who are defined as clinically extremely vulnerable are at very high risk of severe illness from coronavirus”. This group of people has included both children and adults who have been advised to shield. However, currently only extremely clinically vulnerable adults are being given the vaccine- when these children are just as at risk as these adults. Therefore, these children are at a high risk also
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency is responsible for approving the safety of vaccines. At the moment, the covid-19 vaccines have only been approved for over 18s.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation have said that "there is very limited data on vaccination in adolescents, with no data on vaccination in younger children, at this time." You could start a new petition asking for the government to fund research into the safety of covid-19 vaccines for children, if that's something that you'd like to happen.
