What the petition asks
I would like to request that the A1 and A2 transitional sub category of the open category, when flying legacy drones, is extend from the current 2 year period as of the 1 January 2021 be extended to 5 years to end on the 1 January 2026.
The EASA drone laws have created huge restrictions to flying legacy drones. To continue flying these drones under similar circumstances as before, the operator will need to obtain an A2 CofC. This will only allow us to fly the drone without the restrictions for 2 years.
After this period a 600g drone will be treated like a 25kg drone.
People are still buying drones unaware of the restrictions which will make their expensive purchase almost useless. This is unfair and unnecessary.
