What the petition asks
The UK government should make it compulsory for all taxis to have CCTV fitted inside their vehicles to help protect people from sexual assault.
Currently the absence of evidence, which could be provided by CCTV, means that victims of crimes in taxis receive no justice.

To make sure taxi customers including children using school transport taxis are kept safe.
In 2018, police conducted 151 rape enquiries into taxi drivers and investigated a further 353 sexual assault allegations – a 4% increase from 2017.
If CCTV was compulsory in all taxis, this would be less likely to happen or not happen at all.
