Repeal Hate Crime Laws

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

Hate Crime laws prevent freedom of speech. This is our most basic freedom in a democracy. Without the right to offend we do not have freedom of expression.
A recent court ruling declared our right to offend to protect free speech.

In addition to the above, Hate Crime laws are the only laws in the UK where evidence of the crime is not required. Any of us can be convicted of a crime where no evidence of wrongdoing is presented. This is an affront to democracy and common sense.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

You may wish to sign this petition calling for the same action: Enshrine freedom of speech, including ‘hate’ but must not incite physical harm.
