Make the catering at the Glasgow 2021 UN Climate Change Conference plant-based

Closed 1,743 signatures

What the petition asks

The 2019 IPCC report 'Climate Change and Land' notes that a shift towards a plant-based diet can offer significant benefits in mitigating climate change. We are asking the UK Government as hosts of the Conference to show their commitment to the conference aims by making the food offered plant-based.
Disappointingly, previous UN Climate Change conferences have offered very little plant-based foods and COP26 presents an opportunity for the UK government to set a global example in Glasgow, one of most vegan-friendly cities in the world.

The IPCC Special Report 'Climate Change and Land', 2019, p497. 'For example, halving consumption of meat, dairy products and eggs in the European Union would achieve a 40% reduction in ammonia emissions, 25–40% reduction in non-CO2 GHG emissions...'
