Stop department stores from selling x-rated sex toys
Rejected
13 signatures
What the petition asks
Make it mandatory that x-rated vaginal, anal and oral sex toys; in the obvious shape of penis’, vagina’s and other intimate body parts; are only to be sold in listed sex shops out of the sight and reach of children.
Selling these items in family day to day shops is helping to desensitise children from sex and forcing imagery of adult genitals and masturbation into our children’s minds. Adult genitals should not be shown to children- real or pretend. There is a reason that sex toys are not left on the kitchen table or on a shelf in the living room. They are not for children to see.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
In order to sell sex toys retailers are already required to apply for a sex shop licence, and must ensure that no one under 18 visits the premises.
If you would like the Government to introduce restrictions on products that are not classed as sex toys you could start a new petition about this, but it would need to be clear what products you wanted to be prohibited.
