Freedom of Movement for all UK Military Equipment between GB and NI.
Rejected
12 signatures
What the petition asks
There needs to be freedom of movement for all military equipment within the UK.
With the UK leaving the EU, the Ministry of Defence must apply to NATO to have any military equipment moved into Northern Ireland. This is lengthy process which takes 15 days to be concluded.
With the UK leaving the EU, the Ministry of Defence must apply to NATO to have any military equipment moved into Northern Ireland. This is lengthy process which takes 15 days to be concluded.
Not allowing the freedom of movement within the UK is a failure of the UK Government to protect the people of Northern Ireland. It must be overturned now.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
The Government has stated that the Northern Ireland Protocol is clear that it respects the essential state functions and territorial integrity of the UK, and that it therefore places no restrictions on military movements between Great Britain and Northern Ireland: https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2021-02-01/147095
