Petition · past parliament
The UK government should active Section 16 of the Northern Ireland protocol

What the petition asks
Given that the EU was quite willing to do so recently, until challenged on the matter, we might reasonably conclude that the reason the EU insisted on such a protocol, the apparently sacrosanct open border on the island of Ireland, was an invention and should be given no further consideration.
Section 16 of the protocol can be activated in the event of "economic, societal or environmental difficulties".
Since it came into force, we have seen many examples of the movement of products and produce to NI from GB being obstructed, threatening the NI food chain.
