Hold a referendum on UK membership of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)

Closed 86 signatures

What the petition asks

UK government must hold a referendum on UK accession to CPTPP.
In 2019 General Election the UK government received an electoral mandate for taking back sovereignty.

However, denies the British people the ability to express their opinion on CPTPP membership. Sovereignty will be lost, as rules will be decided by foreign governments. This is results in a democratic deficit.

The UK had in 1975 & 2016 referendums on joining & leaving the EU, as the government of the day felt that British people's opinion was necessary. Accession to CPTPP is no different.
