Introduce a National Reforestation Scheme
Closed
75 signatures
What the petition asks
Start a permanent reforestation scheme of planting locally appropriate tree species across the UK in all public owned spaces & incentivise planting on private land. Establish a panel of experts to recommend operational measures. Nominate a Gov't department to design and implement the scheme.
Long term local and global benefit of large scale diverse tree planting include: Improvement in quality of life for all, climate change prevention, creation of habitats for all wildlife, better air quality, prevention of flooding, a healthier population, prevention of loss of habitats and soil erosion and job creation. It is unethical to disregard this as it would be cheap and reasonable to start a scheme that could have a diverse and profound impact for the greater public good.
