Make unsolicited postal marketing illegal.

What the petition asks
Electoral registers should record postal marketing opt-in consent from each resident. Without this express consent, a resident should be assumed to have opted out. Sending postal marketing without opt-in consent should be an offence in UK law.
It is currently illegal to send marketing emails without express opt-in permission from recipients. Given the much higher environmental cost of postal marketing, it is imperative that postal marketing be held to the same standards. Many people simply pick up the marketing materials from their doormat and place them straight into their recycling bin.
